As reported by 9to5Google, Google has markedly intensified its Gmail advertising efforts, leading to a surge in ad presence on both desktop and mobile platforms. Notably, areas of the app previously devoid of ads are now displaying them. Fortunately, a solution exists to eliminate these unwelcome ads.
How can one eliminate ads from Gmail?
If you’re weary of encountering ads in your inbox, here are the steps to remove them. Note that this process involves the removal of categories (such as Social, Updates, Promotions tabs, etc.), a minor inconvenience:
By following these steps, you’ll disable the tabs in your inbox, which were helpful in distinguishing spam from important messages. Currently, Google displays ads only when these categories are active, so disabling them will also deactivate the ads.
Personally, I prefer to immediately hide all categories when setting up a new Gmail account, ensuring an ad-free inbox experience. While it’s possible that Google may eventually find a way to include ads in the primary inbox, I intend to relish my ad-free inbox for as long as possible.
