Instagram experiments with Close Friends-only posts in testing phase.
2 min readAlessandro Paluzzi has disclosed that Instagram is working on a feature enabling users to create posts exclusively for their Close Friends.
Should this feature be implemented, users would have the ability to share private content, such as quirky posts and photo collections, solely with their most intimate connections. Additionally, content creators and influencers could leverage the feature to monetize their content by providing exclusive information to their Close Friends.
Paluzzi indicates that a new “Audience” tab will be incorporated into the posting process, allowing users to decide whether to share with everyone or exclusively with their Close Friends. This means that exclusive content can be shared with specific individuals in both Instagram Stories and the main feed.
While the release date for this feature remains uncertain, it seems unlikely that Instagram would confine Close Friends exclusively to Stories without including it in the main feed.
Recently, the social media platform unveiled a new feature enabling users to add a soundtrack to photo posts on the feed. This feature is currently undergoing testing on carousel posts and Notes, which has yet to be launched. Additionally, users can now include multiple links in their bio.
Instagram seems to be striving to cater to the diverse needs of its user base by offering a range of features. The app aims to centralize various types of posts in users’ primary accounts, eliminating the need for them to create separate profiles for more specialized audiences. From engaging with a broader audience to connecting with close friends, Instagram is making an effort to provide a comprehensive experience for its users.
